Passengers should always follow the guidance provided by Priors Bus Service.
Priors Bus Service shall not be liable for any transmission of COVID-19 whilst passengers are travelling on its vehicles.
Priors Bus Service have implemented measures from advice prepared by NSW Health and in conjunction with Transport for NSW to ensure the safety of our school students and public passengers and help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
We have implemented additional cleaning schedules on all our buses, have posters and stickers displayed in our buses to remind passengers of physical distancing and the importance of hygiene and not to board the bus if you are sick.
To help protect our drivers, no students or public passengers are to sit directly behind or adjacent to the driver. We also ask all paying passengers to please have correct fare and deposit into the box provided to eliminate the need for the driver to handle cash.
Public and school bus services are an essential service, our services are fully operational and our office is open Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm.
Steps that students and public passengers travelling on our buses can take to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus include:
- Covering your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze. It is best to cough or sneeze into your elbow
- Practice good hygiene after coming into contact with handles, rails, buttons and windows during your bus journey. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser
- If you feel unwell, please stay at home and avoid travel altogether.
- It is best for public passengers to plan ahead and travel outside peak school pick up and drop off times (7.15am – 9am and 2.15pm – 4.30pm) where possible.

Slow Down to 40km When Lights Flash
Drivers should look out for children who are crossing the road or waiting to cross. Lights flash on buses to warn motorists that buses are picking up and dropping off children. By law, a driver must not overtake or pass a bus with flashing lights at more than 40km/h
Lights begin to flash when the bus stops and the doors open, and they keep flashing for about 20 seconds after the doors close. Children are most at risk in the minutes after they get off the bus.
Young children are often unpredictable in their movements. They are still developing the skills that help them to judge the direction of sound and the speed and distance of vehicles.
We know that because of their sheer size and mass, buses can cause severe outcomes for other road users in crashes. Motorists can help reduce the risk of a crash and keep children safe by:
- Slowing down to 40km/h when bus lights are flashing
- Looking out for children crossing the road near bus stops, in school zones or along bus routes
- Giving way to buses when they merge back into traffic
Rural and Regional areas
Drivers must take extra care when driving past bus stops or along bus routes in rural and regional areas. Be aware of children crossing the road and slow down to 40km/h when bus lights flash. A stationary bus can impede your view of children near the bus.
